Bachelor Season 1 Update

Season 1 of the Bachelor starred Alex Michel.  This was the Season that made history for the Bachelor Franchise.  Alex was a 31 year old Harvard graduate seeking love.  It was filmed and 2002, two decades ago.  Let's catch up with some of these contestants.

Alex Michel was the first Bachelor, therefore, is it appropriate to call him the Pioneer of Bachelor, since he was the first Reality Star of the Bachelor Franchise?  

He completed his undergraduate studies at Harvard University, and his MBA at Stanford University.  Both of these schools are Ivy League schools.

Alex gave his final rose to Amanda Marsh, whom we covered in earlier tiles.  During his season, he became known for the infamous and passionate kiss with LaNease Adams (see photo).

Today Alex is a Vice President, Strategic Alliances for Magnet in the Washington DC area.  He previously held various roles with Microsoft, including Chief of Staff and Head of Strategy in London, United Kingdom.

Trista Rehn (Sutter).

Trista Rehn was a 29 year old Miami Heat Dancer from St. Louis, Missouri.  She was the runner up on Season 1 of Bachelor with Alex Michel.

Trista later became the first on the Bachelorette and established the foundation by starring in Season 1.  She married Ryan Sutter, and they remain married.  They have two children, and they live in Colorado.  Trista will be 51 years old this year (2023).

Ryan recently battled with Lyme disease, and like many, it was undiagnosed for some time, despite the symptoms.  Ryan is a firefighter.

Shannon Oliver.

Shannon Oliver was on Season 1 of @Bachelorabc with Alex Michel in 2002, when she was a 24 year old Financial Management Consultant. Shannon was very vocal about her values, while on the show.

Shannon, from Texas, is married with two sons. She appears to live a private life.
